Warehouse Worker-Stock Clerk
Location: Alameda, CA
Company Overview: Svendsen’s Bay Marine & Industrial Supply is seeking temporary warehouse workers. The company is a leading supplier of wholesale marine products to Northern California’s growing maritime repair industry. Located on the waterfront in Alameda, California, the company is now in its 50
th year of operation and known for having excellent fulfillment and strong customer service. The company is owned by and affiliated with Bay Maritime Group, which specializes in all aspects of ship and recreational boat repair in multiple Bay Area locations.
Job Summary: The Stock Clerk will receive and stock incoming shipments of inventory, as well as fill customer orders and package them for shipment. You will also develop a strong working knowledge of our 30,000 marine products with training and mentoring from our existing staff.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Stock Clerk include the following:
- Unpacking and stocking inventory in the warehouse.
- Maintaining the warehouse in clean and orderly condition.
- Conducting periodic inventories of products.
- Picking parts and filling customer orders.
- Packaging orders for shipment and/or delivery.
- Keeping records of products picked and packaged for shipment.
- Assist with loading delivery van(s) and delivering parts on designated routes.
- Developing a strong knowledge of the Company’s range of products and bin locations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A minimum of 1-years working in warehouse distribution, including methods used in receiving, storing and recording inventory shipments/receipts.
- Excellent communication skills verbal and written
- Ability to maintain and produce legible inventory documentation
- Ability to perform manual labor (some heavy lifting up to 50lbs is required)
- High school degree or equivalent work experience.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record/background check.
Candidates not meeting all qualifications, but possessing a strong work ethic, and the desire for a career in marine industrial supply are encouraged to apply.
Desired Attributes:
- Existing knowledge of marine and industrial supply products, including any or all of the following: coatings (above and below the waterline), abrasives and system components (electrical, plumbing, rigging, hardware, apparel, sanitation and engines).
- Recent work experience as a warehouse person or industrial supply.
- Physical strength/agility sufficient to perform a wide variety of physical tasks, including lifting boxes or heavy/bulky objects.
- Team player and attention to detail.
- Forklift training and/or experience.
